Silver Cross Partners with Joliet Central and West High Schools’ Intern Program
Students Job Shadow Silver Cross Nurses and Clinical Staff
New Lenox, IL (May 8, 2013) —Recently 30 Joliet Township Central and West High School sophomore students took a break from class and came to Silver Cross Hospital at I-355 and Route 6 in New Lenox for real-life lessons on April 23 and 24. The free intern program offers a valuable experience and great opportunity for sophomores enrolled in an advisory class allowing them real insight into medical careers.
Students spent the morning “shadowing” Silver Cross nurses and clinical staff to observe real healthcare professions where they discussed numerous career opportunities in healthcare.

Under the supervision of their classroom instructor and hospital managers, the students visited various areas including surgery, nursing, obstetrics and the emergency department.
