In addition to his important contributions over the past 40 years to the Silver Cross Medical Staff, Dr. Gutierrez has served as a member of Silver Cross Hospital Board of Directors since 1998.  He was the first physician to lead the Board serving as Chairman from November 2007 to May 2010. During his time, Silver Cross was building a replacement hospital at I-355 and Route 6 in New Lenox. As a member of the Board of Directors, he represented the interest of the hospital’s medical staff serving on several committees including Corporate Strategy, Governance and Management Effectiveness, and Quality and Cost Effectiveness Committees. His leadership extends beyond Silver Cross’ walls as he has served as the former Medical Director of the Will County Health Department and Past President of the Will-Grundy Medical Society. For his contributions to the health profession, he was presented with the Silver Cross Sehring Medal of Excellence in 1999.

Salvador Rinella, M.D.

As part of the Navy, his first year was spent on the Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarine, USS John C. Calhoun, SSBN 630. He subsequently, spent the 2nd year as the first and only assistant to the Chief of Dependent Surgery at the Charleston Naval Hospital, Charleston, South Carolina.

For the past 7 years, he has represented the medical staff on the Silver Cross Hospital’s Board of Directors. He served on the Audit and Legal Affairs and Quality and Cost Effectiveness Committees. Throughout his tenure, all of the committees he has served on have benefited from his thoughtful insight.
