Silver Cross Pathologist Appointed to Clarient’s Clinical Advisory Board
Joliet, IL (August 05, 2010)—Medical Director of the Silver Cross Hospital Laboratory, Dr. Alvin Ring, has been recently appointed to the Clinical Advisory Board for Clarient, Inc. (Nasdaq: CLRT), a premier technology and services resource for pathologists, oncologists and the pharmaceutical industry.
Through his role on the Clarient Clinical Advisory Board, Dr. Ring is one of several pathologists who will assist oncologists and other physicians to accurately diagnosis and treat cancer patients.
“In this era of personalized medicine it is vital that pathologists, who are essential in the diagnosis of cancer, are part of the patient's "team", aligning their expertise with treating physicians in finding the best course of therapy for the patient,” said Dr. Alvin Ring.
Board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Alvin Ring, M.D., has been on staff at Silver Cross Hospital for 20 years. Dr. Ring attended medical school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. He completed residencies/fellowships at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, Mount Carmel Hospital in Detroit MI, and Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. He has been on the faculty at several universities including Stanford University Hospital in Stanford, CA, and is currently Professor of Pathology at University of Illinois in Chicago.
In addition, Dr. Ring has originated and coordinated national and local postgraduate and board review courses for pathologists, primary care physicians, surgeons, and others. He has authored four textbooks and many scientific papers, and has been a member on the editorial boards of two journals – Laboratory Medicine and Medical Lab Observer. He has also performed inspections of laboratories and educational institutions.
In addition to his appointment with Clariant, Dr. Ring was recently listed in Marquis Who’s Who in America, a publication which profiles the country’s most accomplished men and women from across all fields of endeavor. He is also listed in Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in Medicine and Who’s Who in the World.
