Silver Cross Named Hospital of Choice for 6th Year
Will County has one of America’s Most Customer Friendly Hospitals
Joliet, IL (Oct. 1, 2010) — The American Alliance of Healthcare Providers (AAHCP) recently announced that Silver Cross has once again been named a Hospital of Choice. This is the sixth time that Silver Cross has been recognized as one of America’s Most Customer Friendly Hospitals.
Only 100 hospitals are chosen each year putting Silver Cross in the same company as the renowned Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, and Massachusetts General in Boston.
“We are pleased to be recognized as one of only five hospitals in Illinois to receive such an honor,” says Paul Pawlak, President and CEO of Silver Cross Hospital. “Winning this award year after year shows our commitment to treating patients the way they should be treated by consistently providing an unrivaled health care experience.”
Each year AAHCP evaluates approximately 400 hospitals for consideration of this award. The Hospital of Choice Award is designed to find America's most customer-friendly hospitals based either on an extensive application process, or by a review of a facility's public communication and staff interaction with customers. The application process judged applicants on the Association’s 10-point criteria in Professional Ethics, Standards of Conduct, Patient's Rights, Performance Management, Staff Development, and Communication Systems.
“The hospitals selected for this honor must display a remarkable affinity toward quality care, customer satisfaction and community service,” explains AAHCP President R. Vincent Parr. “In short, we recognize hospitals that care about all their customers.”
The AAHCP designed the Hospital of Choice Awards in 2002 to recognize those hospitals that go beyond their walls in pursuit of excellence and quality care—hospitals that have developed a collaborative relationship with physicians and healthcare organizations in the community, as well as managed care organizations and other payors. Winning hospitals are recognized for a period of one year and posted on the website www.choicehospitals.com.
To continue to bring in the pursuit to bring an unrivaled healthcare experience to patients and families, Silver Cross is building a replacement hospital in New Lenox. Construction on the state-of-the-art 289-bed hospital in 65 percent complete and slated to open in February 2010. The new hospital has been designed to better service patients and their family members. The large, private family-friendly rooms will be able to accommodate more procedures at the bedside and provide acuity adaptable care. This means that each room will have the space, supplies and staff to deliver the appropriate level of care to the patient rather than transfer the patient between units as needs change—allowing patients a greater chance to heal faster and go home sooner.
