New Lenox Resident to Lead State Healthcare Marketing and PR Society
Silver Cross Employee Tracy Simons Elected as President of ISHMPR
Joliet, IL (Nov. 11, 2010)— New Lenox resident Tracy Simons was elected President of the Illinois Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations (ISHMPR) at the Society’s annual conference held Nov. 8 and 9 at Starved Rock Lodge in Utica. With nearly 300 members, ISHMPR is comprised of healthcare marketing and communications professionals dedicated to offering networking, recognition and educational opportunities for professionals in the fields of healthcare public and community relations, marketing and affiliated services across the State of Illinois.
With 18 years of healthcare and marketing experience, Simons has served on the ISHMPR Board of Directors for the past five years most recently as Vice President and Co-Chair of the Education Committee. She is also a member of Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMD) where she worked on the 2010 Annual Conference Planning Committee.
Locally, Simons represents Silver Cross Hospital as President of the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce. She also volunteers her time as a co-leader for New Lenox Girl Scout Troop 373. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the Joliet Chamber of Commerce’s and Industry’s Council for Working Women and Tinley Park Lioness Club.
Simons is a graduate of Tinley Park High School and Valparaiso University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. She received her master’s degree in business from the University of St. Francis.
She has served as the community relations coordinator at St. Francis Hospital and Health Center in Blue Island—now MetroSouth, and as the marketing director at BackDocs, a chiropractic practice in Romeoville. In 1997, she joined Silver Cross Hospital, which is a Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospital National Award winner for the past 6 consecutive years, as the Manger of Community Relations. In 2002, she was promoted to the Director of Community Relations and Marketing.
In addition to her duties overseeing Silver Cross’ internal and external communication and marketing strategies, she has led the hospital to win several advertising awards including Creative Image’s Aster Awards, Health Care Marketing Report Awards and a Web Award from the Web Marketing Association. Most recently Simons and the Silver Cross Marketing team won 10 ISHMPR Pinnacle Awards including 2010 Best of Show for Silver Cross Hospital’s new Logo Design. In addition, she played an integral part in obtaining Certificate of Need approval for the Silver Cross Replacement Hospital and University of Chicago Cancer Center at Silver Cross—both of which will open at I-355 and Route 6 in New Lenox in 2012.
Tracy Simons is married to Scott. They have three children: Tyler, Samantha and Cooper.
