Silver Cross Offers Health Screenings in May
Joliet, IL (April 18, 2011)— Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. Blood Pressure and Diabetes Screenings
Silver Cross Hospital will provide free Blood Pressure and Diabetes Screenings on Thursday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Will County Farm Bureau, 100 Manhattan Rd., Joliet. Contact (815) 727-4811 with any questions.
Calcium Artery Scoring
Silver Cross Hospital offers a quick and painless test using a high speed CT scanner that can measure calcium deposits in the coronary arteries to determine your risk of having a heart attack. Calcium artery scoring is ideal for men over age 45 and women over age 55 who smoke, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol or a family history of premature coronary artery disease. Cholesterol, Diabetes & Blood Pressure Screening
Silver Cross will offer complimentary Cholesterol, Diabetes & Blood Pressure Screenings on Monday, May 23 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. The free test will be provided at the Silver Cross Health Center,12701 W 143rd St., Homer Glen. Dr. Anthony Rinella, spine surgeon, will offer free scoliosis screenings every Thursday in May from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Silver Cross Health Center, 12701 West 143rd St., Homer Glen. To register, call 877-694-7722. The screenings are free and available for children and adults.
Skin Cancer Screening
In honor of National Skin Cancer Awareness month, Silver Cross will be offering free full-body skin cancer screenings on Thursday, May 5, 4 to 5 p.m. with Dr. Todd Davis, dermatologist, and Thursday, May 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Dr. Jessica Kappelman, dermatologist. Screenings will be held at the Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health, 1870 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. All are welcome; children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Speech and Swallowing Screenings
In honor of Better Speech & Hearing Month, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago at Silver Cross Hospital will offer free speech screenings for children of all ages and swallowing screenings for adults who are experiencing difficulty due to neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and stroke or any type of surgery.
