Silver Cross Hospital Wins National Marketing Awards
Recognized Among the Nation’s Elite in the 2011 Aster Awards Competition
Joliet, IL (May 6, 2011)—Honored for excellence in advertising in the 2011 Aster Awards, Silver Cross Hospital received two Gold Awards in this year’s competition.
The Aster Awards, one of the largest national competitions of its kind, is hosted by Marketing Healthcare Today Magazine and Creative Images, Inc. This elite program recognizes outstanding healthcare professionals for excellence in their advertising/marketing efforts for the calendar year 2010.
Silver Cross Hospital’s Marketing and Community Relations team led by Ruth Colby (Chicago resident) and Tracy Simons (New Lenox resident) won a Gold Award for the hospital’s redesigned website—(www.silvercross.org). The website was built in partnership by Silver Cross Hospital’s Karen Helman, (Orland Park resident), Ben Hernandez (Orland Park resident), and Paty Hollingsworth (Joliet resident) along with Elgin online marketing firm DC Interactive Group.
The Hospital also received a Gold Award for its refreshed logo created in partnership with the Houston, Texas environmental graphics firm, FMG Design. FMG is currently designing all the way finding signage and collateral for the Silver Cross Replacement Hospital opening in February 2012. A committee of Hospital stakeholders comprised of Board Members, Foundation Board Members, Employees, Community Volunteers and Auxiliary members worked together with FMG Design to freshen-up the hospital’s corporate identity in preparation of the opening replacement hospital. The new mark depicts a strong connection to the hospital's founders—the Will County Union of King’s Daughters and Sons, bringing in their emblem—the Maltese Cross and their trademark color purple. The color green in the cross symbolizes both growth and nature as ties to nature is an important part of the design of the new hospital that will help patients heal faster. The white “swoosh” in the middle of the cross resembles the flowing curves in the architectural design of the new hospital. And, the modern typestyle is easier to read.
“It was an honor to have Silver Cross Hospital participate in the 2011 Aster Awards Competition. They placed in the top 5% of the nation,” said Melinda R. Lucas, Aster Awards Program Coordinator. “The quality of this year’s entries went well beyond the judges’ expectations.”
The 2011 Aster Awards received approximately 3,000 entries from across the United States as well as Canada and South America. Participant’s entries competed against similar-sized organizations in their category. Entries must score at least in the top 16% to receive an award. Judging criteria includes creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality and overall appeal.
All winners are posted on the Aster Awards website (www.AsterAwards.com), as well as published in Marketing Healthcare Today, a national healthcare marketing magazine.
