Silver Cross Offers Childbirth Education Classes in August
Joliet, IL (July 20, 2011)— Silver Cross offers an array of classes to help new parents prepare and expect the best from their birthing experience in the hospital’s beautiful birthing suites. Birthing Center Tours
Silver Cross Hospital will offer free Birthing Center Tours for expectant families on the hospital’s campus at 1200 Maple Rd., Joliet. The tours will be offered Sundays, August 7 and 21, and Saturday August 27 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. to help new parents prepare and expect the best from their birthing experience in the hospital’s luxurious birthing suites.
A certified lactation consultant will teach the basics of breastfeeding, including establishing a milk supply, breast pumps, avoiding difficulties and more Wednesday, August 10 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Silver Cross Hospital, 1200 Maple Rd., Joliet. Newborns welcome. Cost is $15.
Silver Cross will offer a free Prenatal Childbirth Class on Sunday, August 7, and Monday, August 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. Led by a registered labor and delivery nurse, during this two-day class participants will learn about labor, delivery, recovery, post partum and other birthing options. Class size is limited and registration is mandatory. This class is free and will be held at the hospital, 1200 Maple Rd., Joliet.
Prepared Childbirth Class
Silver Cross is offering a 4-week program on Wednesdays, August 10 through August 31 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The classes will be held at the hospital, 1200 Maple Rd., Joliet. Participants will receive instruction from the Birthing Center staff on breathing, relaxation, floor exercise techniques and a tour of the luxurious birthing suite. Labor, delivery, recovery, post-partum and other birthing options are also discussed. Cost is $75 per couple.

The Silver Cross Birthing Center offers luxurious birthing suites where patients have the convenience of staying in the same room through recovery, followed by a stay in the hospital’s beautiful mother-child suites. Every birthing suite has an easily adjustable labor bed, private bath and blanket warmer available. Some rooms also include an immersion tub and walk-in shower. Other accommodations include a stereo CD and TV/VCR/DVD, a mini-refrigerator and a recliner/lounge bed for the support person. State-of-the-art medical equipment is set-up and ready inside the suite’s cabinetry if needed. There’s also a Level II skilled infant care nursery as well as the hospital’s normal nursery. A board certified neonatologist/pediatrician from Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago is always present 24 hours a day.
