Silver Cross Offers Support Groups in September

Joliet, IL (August 17, 2011)— Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.  The group meets every Wednesday and Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Rialto Room. Bariatric Support Group
Silver Cross Hospital in partnership with BMI Surgery hosts a free Bariatric Support Group for individuals who have undergone weight loss surgery. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, September 28 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center, 1200 Maple Road, Joliet. Bipolar Disease Support Group
Silver Cross Hospital will host a free Bipolar Disease Support Group for individuals and family members coping with bipolar disease on Tuesdays, September 13 and 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Specialty Care Pavilion lobby located on the Silver Cross Hospital campus, 1300 Copperfield Ave., Joliet. Breast Cancer Support Group
The American Cancer Society and Silver Cross Hospital will offer I Can Cope, an educational program for women facing breast cancer on Tuesday, September 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Center for Women’s Health Library, 1870 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox (on the Replacement Hospital campus). This program covers topics relevant to the cancer experience and offers practical help in coping with some of the emotional issues resulting from a cancer diagnosis.  Call 1-888-660-HEAL (4325) or visit www.IMatter.silvercross.org to register to attend.

CPAP Support Group
Cardinal Sleep Center of Will County will host a CPAP Support Group on Tuesday, September 27 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Silver Cross Hospital, Polley Education Room, 1200 Maple Rd., Joliet. The support group is for individuals using a Continuous Positive Air Pressure (CPAP) machine and their family member. For more information, call 1-888-660-HEAL (4325) or visit www.silvercross.org.

Cocaine Anonymous
Cocaine Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from their addiction. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. There are no dues or fees for membership. GRASP Support Group
Silver Cross Hospital hosts the GRASP (Grief Recovery After Substance Passing) Support Group for individuals and family members coping with loss of loved ones due to substance abuse. The group will meet on Saturday, September 17 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Rialto Room at Silver Cross Hospital. All participants are welcome. Narcotics Anonymous
The Narcotics Anonymous is a fellowship for those who suffer from drug addiction. It is a twelve step program designed for groups to support each other through recovery. This group meets Sundays at 9 a.m., and Tuesdays and Fridays at 8 p.m. in the Rialto Room at Silver Cross Hospital. All participants are welcome. Pulmonary Support Group
Silver Cross Hospital, will host a free Pulmonary Support Group Thursday, September 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Specialty Care Pavilion, Room, 1005, 1300 Copperfield Ave., Joliet.  This support group is for individuals with adult asthma, COPD, oxygen equipment, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, sarcoidosis, pulmonary fibrosis and respiratory disease.  Family members are also invited to attend.  For more information, call 1-888- 660-HEAL (4325).
