Spanish Community Center Receives $38,000 Grant from Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission
Joliet, IL (January 12, 2012) — The Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission awarded the Spanish Community Center of Joliet with a $38,000 grant to help fund their “Education to Employment” program. This program will focus on providing educational opportunities to help strengthen the community through Adult GED and English as a Second Language programs.
The Spanish Community Center provides educational and social services to the city's growing needs of the Spanish speaking people in their native language and helps to make the transition of setting in the community, and learning English as a second language a little easier. Over the last four decades the center has evolved from an agency helping only the Spanish speaking people of the neighborhood to an agency providing help to the entire community.
