Phelan/Sosenko Elected to Silver Cross Board of Directors
Joliet, IL (Jan. 6 2012)—John Phelan and Alexander Sosenko, M.D. have been appointed to the Silver Cross Hospital Board of Directors.
With over 30 years of experience in all facets of information technology, John Phelan is the vice president of operations of information technologies at CommScope, a multinational telecommunications company based in Hickory, N.C.. CommScope manufactures SYSTIMAX and Uniprise brands of Enterprise infrastructure of copper Unshielded Twisted Pair cabling, connector panels, jacks and fiber optic cabling, connector panels, racking and metals. He currently leads a team of 100 information technology specialists and is responsible for the company’s data centers, networks, regional support site, data base, application technology and security. Prior to joining CommScope in 2007, the New Lenox resident worked at Andrew Corporation in Orland Park, IL for 22 years and Panduit Corporation in Tinley Park, IL.
He is a graduate of Governor’s State University earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Business. He is an active member of the community having served as president of SWILA Baseball Association, league vice president of New Lenox Baseball Association, and vice president of the New Lenox Soccer Association.
Joining Phelan is Alexander Sosenko, M.D. Serving residents of Will County for over 30 years, Dr. Sosenko is a certified pulmonary medicine and critical care physician with Midwest Respiratory in Joliet. He currently serves as Chief of Staff at Silver Cross Hospital. The son of Helen and Roman Sosenko, M.D.—family medicine physician in Joliet for over 40 years, Dr. Alex Sosenko graduated from Joliet Catholic High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from and Loyola University in Chicago and attended medical school at University of Illinois Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his internal medicine residency at University of Illinois Medical Center and a pulmonary diseases and critical care fellowship at Northwestern University Medical Center.
Dr. Sosenko is on the medical staff at Silver Cross Hospital and Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the Respiratory Care Department at Silver Cross Hospital. Dr. Sosenko is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and a member of the American Thoracic Society, American College of Physicians American Society of Internal Medicine, Society of Critical Care Physicians, and Ukranian Medical Association of North America. He is married to Dr. Maria Sosenko, rheumatologist in Joliet.
