Childerguild Hosts Book Fair March 26 & 27 at Silver Cross Hospital
New Lenox, IL (March 19, 2012)— Childerguild will host a Books are Fun Book Fair Monday, March 26 and Tuesday, March 27, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Lobby of Pavilion A/B at the new Silver Cross Hospital campus, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. A variety of popular children’s books and games, cookbooks, self-help books and other interesting adult books will be available. Cash and major credit cards accepted.
For over 100 years, Childerguild has benefited women and children at Silver Cross Hospital. Founded in 1910, by 13 benevolent women who had no children of their own, Childerguild was formed to benefit the mother/baby and pediatrics departments at Silver Cross Hospital. In the early years, Childerguild raised funds through private donations and by hosting card parties. Today proceeds from annual events such as the Childerguild Ball along with the efforts of Childerguild members to operate the hospital’s Gift Shop has allowed the organization to donate over $2.3 million to fund maternal/child care projects at Silver Cross Hospital.
