About the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission
In January 2008, the Silver Cross Hospital Board of Trustees and local community leaders launched a new not-for-profit organization called the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission. The Commission is chaired by retired Will County Board Member, Margie Woods, and has 16 members that represent the interests of constituencies on Joliet’s east side and surrounding communities in Will County.
A commission of this nature is unprecedented in Will County. The purpose of Silver Cross’s Healthy Community Commission (HCC) is essentially to coordinate and enhance existing programs for workforce development, education and business growth with a focus on health care and construction. One of the not-for-profit organization’s main goals is to create a stronger, healthier future for Will County.
Valle joins 15 members of the Healthy Community Commission. They are Margie Woods, Betty Washington, Mary Bakken, Richard Brandolino, Herbert Brooks, Jr., Manuela Botello, William Brownlow, Cesar D. Cardenas, Ruth Colby, Terry D’Arcy, Rev. Richard D. House, Hugo Manzo, Rev. Edward Martin Jr., Theresa A. Rodriguez, and Howard Wright.
