Silver Cross Hospital Employees Awarded Scholarships

New Lenox, IL (October 18, 2014)— The Silver Cross Foundation recently awarded $18,000 in scholarships to 10 hospital employees and three children of Silver Cross employees to help further their education.

Vendor/Craft Fair Planned for Oct. 25 at Silver Cross Hospital

Joliet, IL (Sept. 17, 2014)--The Will County Union of King’s Daughters and Sons will hold the third annual Silver Crossings Vendor/Craft Fair on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 am. to 3 p.m. in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center, Pavilion A, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox.  Free valet and shuttle bus service.  Admission is also free.  Strollers are welcome.

Former Rainbo Bakery Owner Leaves $1.8 Million to Silver Cross Foundation

New Lenox, IL (Sept. 16, 2014)—The Silver Cross Foundation recently received an unforeseen  $1.8 million gift from the estate of Jennie Mariner, a former Silver Cross Hospital trustee and volunteer.  Mariner passed away in June at the age of 91 in Green Valley, Arizona. Her generous bequest will be used to help pay for the $365 million replacement hospital, which opened in 2012 at I-355 and Route 6 in New Lenox.

Breast Cancer Physician Panel Focuses on New Treatments

Silver Cross Hospital offers free breast cancer program on October 7

New Lenox, IL (September 15, 2014) — According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women, except for skin cancers. About 1 in 8 (12%) women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. On the contrary, there are more than 2.8 million breast cancer survivors currently in the United States.  Silver Cross Hospital is offering a free program where a panel of physicians will discuss new breast cancer treatments and how more women can become survivors of the disease.
