Bartender Takes Own Advice to Fight Breast Cancer Diagnosis

New Lenox Resident Benefits from Innovative Prone Breast Radiation Therapy Offered 
at the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center at Silver Cross  

New Lenox, IL (April 8, 2013) — Even after 56-year-old Kathy Vrba received the news that a pea-sized cancerous lump was found in her left breast after her annual mammogram, she decided to take the positive advice she has offered to so many of her patrons during her 28 years as a bartender. “Once I heard the alarming news that I had breast cancer, initially I was so scared, but then instantly I thought no, I’m going to follow my own advice that I have given to so many of my customers and just stay optimistic,” said New Lenox resident Kathy Vrba.

Lincoln-Way Student Interns Donate Funds to Benefit Silver Cross Employees

New Lenox, IL (April 3, 2013)—  Lincoln-Way East High School students along with Scott Fletcher, Dean of Students and teacher for the Human Anatomy & Physiology class at Lincoln-Way East, presented Laura Valencik, Director of Volunteer Services at Silver Cross Hospital, with a check for over $160.  The students donated the money, which will be placed in  the Vera Smith Grant fund to be used for staff education.

11 Physicians Join Silver Cross Hospital’s Medical Staff

New Lenox, IL (April 2, 2013) — Kimberly Bauer, M.D.,  board certified dermatology physician, has joined the Silver Cross Medical Staff. Dr. Bauer attended medical school at the University of Chicago. She completed a dermatology residency at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, OH.
