Childerguild Raises over $160,000 for Silver Cross at Annual Ball

New Lenox, IL (November 30, 2012)—Over 450 friends of Silver Cross Hospital attended the 84th annual Childerguild Ball November 17 at the Odyssey Country Club and enjoyed wonderful food and dancing. The premiere event of the holiday season raised over $160,000, which will be used to support women’s and children’s programs and services at the new Silver Cross Hospital.

Bass Fisherman Able to Compete After Weight Loss Surgery

New Lenox, IL (November 29, 2012) — For many years Dan Brown, of Joliet, has been passionate about bass fishing. Unfortunately due to weighing over 400 pounds, he was unable to participate in many fishing tournaments for years, since he couldn’t endure the extreme heat. However after losing 202 pounds in 11 months as a result of his weight loss surgery, he is now able to fish in the warm weather because the extreme temperatures no longer bother him.

Area Resident Regains Pain-Free Life

Pat Cetera is grateful for therapy from The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago at Silver Cross Hospital 

New Lenox, IL (November 27, 2012)— Pat Cetera of Romeoville suffered for years from severe pain in both of her knees. Walking was a challenge, but the pain became unbearable whenever she had to stand for awhile. “Both of my knees would ache in pain anytime I had to wait in a line at a store,” said 65 year-old Pat Cetera.

Silver Cross Offers Health Screenings in December

New Lenox, IL (Nov. 17, 2012)— Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. If you are not sure if you are at risk for heart disease, now is the time to find out with a Baseline Cardiac Risk Assessment held at Silver Cross Hospital, 1900 Silver Cross Blvd, New Lenox and Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health, 1870 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox.  This screening includes measurements of total cholesterol including HDL and LDL levels, blood glucose level, triglyceride level, blood pressure and body fat; 12-lead EKG, health and lifestyle evaluation, and a personal phone consultation with a registered cardiac nurse to review results and answer questions.
