Silver Cross Encore Shop Re-Opens in New Joliet Location

Grand Opening Celebration Planned for Oct. 5 & 6

New Lenox, IL (Sept. 20, 2012)— (l-r) Bobbi Rand, Kathryn Pitcairn, and Nancy Allen, Silver Cross Advisory Board Current and Past Presidents; Mary Bakken, Silver Cross Hospital Executive Vice President/COO; and Paul Pawlak, Silver Cross Hospital President/CEO, cut the ceremonial ribbon Sept. 18 re-opening the Hospital’s Encore Shop at its new location.  The resale shop, which was previously in the former Silver Cross Hospital near the Emergency Department, moved to the northeast part of the campus in the Hershman Building at 1301 Copperfield Ave., Joliet.

Local Businessman Supports Hospital Chapel in Honor of His Late Wife

New Lenox, IL (September 13, 2012) — To honor the memory of his late wife, Twilla, local businessman and New Lenox resident Frank Margaron and his family donated funds to build the Silver Cross Chapel at the new Silver Cross Hospital at I-355 and Route 6 in New Lenox. The nondenominational Chapel was dedicated to all nurses everywhere.

Craft Fair Planned for Nov. 3 at the new Silver Cross Hospital

Joliet, IL (Sept. 12, 2012)--The Will County Union of King’s Daughters and Sons will hold its first annual Silver Crossings Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 8 am. to 3 p.m. in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center, Pavilion A, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox.  Free valet and shuttle bus service.  Admission is also free.  Strollers are welcome. Over 40 artisans will be selling handmade craft items and homemade baked goods. Lunch will be available in the Silver Cross Season’s Dining Room.

Silver Cross Hosts Free Medicare Advantage Program Sept. 24

New Lenox, IL (Sept. 12, 2012)—Silver Cross Hospital and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois will host a free program to answer questions about Medicare Advantage (Part C) on Monday, Sept. 24.  Educational sessions will be held at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center Rooms 2A-C, located in Pavilion A, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox.  Free valet parking and shuttle service will be available.  Participants will learn the about the basics of Medicare and Medicare Advantage programs as well as eligibility and enrollment periods.

Silver Cross Encore Shop Plans Grand Re-Opening Oct 5 & 6

Resale store expands and moves to new location on former hospital’s Joliet campus
New Lenox, IL (Sept. 11, 2012)—The Silver Cross Encore Shop is moving to the Hershman Building, 1301 Copperfield Ave., Joliet—on the former Silver Cross Hospital campus.  The newly expanded store will re-open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18 featuring a wide selection of gently used adult and children’s clothing, household items, jewelry, books and seasonal decorations.
A Grand Re-Opening Celebration has been planned for Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Shoppers will receive a complimentary gift bag and have an opportunity to a win one of several Walmart Gift Cards.
For over 50 years the Encore Shop has been operated by a volunteer group of women called the Silver Cross Advisory Board.  In the past 11 years, the Advisory Board has donated more than $935,000 to Silver Cross for the purchase of X-ray equipment for the Emergency Department, ICU beds, laptop computers for Home Health nurses, dialysis and mammography equipment, surgery carts and instruments, cardiac software, and a new pick-up truck used to maintain the grounds of the hospital campus.  The group recently completed a $75,000 pledge to purchase the water feature in the Dralle Serenity Garden outside the new Silver Cross Hospital at I-355 and Route 6 in New Lenox.
Donations Welcome
Beginning Sept. 19, the Encore Shop will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations can be dropped off at the new Encore Shop in Joliet or in the collection bin outside Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.  For more information, call either the Encore Shop at (815) 300-7642 or Volunteers Services at Silver Cross Hospital at (815) 300-7117.
