Silver Cross Celebrates First Baby Born in 2012

Joliet, IL (January 3, 2012)—Joliet residents and proud parents Leticia Gonzales and Jerry Trejo received an early New Year’s present --a new baby boy.  With help from Dr. Jessica Shepard, obstetrician/gynecologist with the Will County Health Department, baby Jerry Gustavo Trejo was born on Jan 1, 2012 at 11:27 p.m. weighing 7 ½ pounds and measuring 19 ½  inches. Not that this wasn't exciting enough, but little Jerry was the first baby born at Silver Cross Hospital this year.  To celebrate, the Silver Cross Birthing Center staff filled a gift basket with an array of baby items--many donated by the hospital's Childerguild Gift Shop. The Childerguild has supported women and children's services at Silver Cross for over 100 years.

Silver Cross Hospital’s New Procedural Care Unit opening Feb. 26, 2012

Design will streamline care for surgical patients/families

Joliet, IL (Jan. 2, 2011)—One  of the single most exciting enhancements to the new Silver Cross Hospital opening Feb. 26 at I-355 and Route 6 in New Lenox  is the consolidation of surgery, endoscopy and interventional cardiology and radiology procedures into one integrated area—the Procedural Care Unit (PCU).   Located on the second floor of the replacement hospital, each of these areas is conveniently adjacent to the PCU Family Lounge and also many private pre/post procedural rooms.  The PCU has been designed for flexibility, operational efficiencies, and advanced technology.

National Hookup of Black Women Receives Grant from Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission

Joliet, IL (December 28, 2011) — The Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission awarded the National Hookup of Black Women (NHBW) of Joliet with a $9,000 grant to help fund their new “Family Empowerment”  program.  This program will focus on strengthening families and the community by expanding their literacy program through health and financial education.

Local Physician Introduces New Procedure to help Diagnose Lung Cancer

State-of-the-art EBUS procedure available at Silver Cross Hospital

Joliet, IL (December 27, 2011) – Lung cancer is one of the deadliest cancers because it is often diagnosed after it has spread. There is now a technological breakthrough to help patients with lung and lymph node tumors to be more accurately diagnosed – and diagnosed earlier – so patients can have more treatment options.

Local Man Becomes Living Legend After Weight Loss Surgery at Silver Cross

Joliet, IL (December 22, 2011) —Dale “Ron” Gooch is a loving husband, a doting father, a champion bowler, and a very happy person, but there was a time in his life he didn’t believe any of this was possible.
