Loosen the Grip of Sinusitis

 Head Stuffy? Silver Cross offers a free program that may answer your questions on May 24

Joliet, IL (May 18, 2011)—Acute sinusitis is a short-term, intense infection or inflammation of the membranes in your sinuses—the air-filled cavities in the bones around the eyes and behind the nose. According to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), millions of Americans develop this common condition at least once a year, especially in the spring. Symptoms of sinusitis can affect the nose, eyes or ears.

Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health Hosts Mammogram Party May 26

Joliet, IL (May 18, 2011)—To encourage women to get their annual mammogram, the Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health in New Lenox is hosting a Mammogram Party.  Women age 40 and older who have not had their mammography screening in the past 12 months are invited to attend on Thursday, May 26 between 5 and 8 p.m.  For reservations, call (815) 740-7076. A physician’s order is necessary and results will be available within 24 hours.  Participants can choose to have their insurance billed or pay $100 at time of the appointment.

Silver Cross Offers Support Groups in June

Joliet, IL (May 18, 2011)— Silver Cross Hospital will host a free Bipolar Disease Support Group for individuals and family members coping with bipolar disease on Tuesday, June 14 and 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Specialty Care Pavilion lobby located on the Silver Cross Hospital campus, 1300 Copperfield Ave., Joliet. Silver Cross Offers Health Screenings in June

Joliet, IL (May 17, 2011)— Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. If you are not sure if you are at risk for heart disease, now is the time to find out with a Baseline Cardiac Risk Assessment.  The screening is held in the LaVerne and Dorothy Brown Cardiovascular Institute at Silver Cross Hospital, 1300 Copperfield Ave., Joliet, Silver Cross Health Center in Homer Glen, 12701 W. 143rd St., and Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health, 1870 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox.  The test includes measurements of total cholesterol including HDL and LDL levels, blood glucose level, triglyceride level, blood pressure and body fat; 12-lead EKG, health and lifestyle evaluation, and a personal phone consultation with a registered cardiac nurse to review results and answer questions.
