Colorectal cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the US, and it is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths. The risk of developing colorectal cancer increases with age. In fact, more than 90% of cases occur in people age 50 years and older. If everyone were screened regularly beginning at age 50, as many as 60% of deaths from this cancer could be avoided, since screening tests can find and remove precancerous polyps before they become malignant. And if colorectal cancer is detected early, treatment is more likely to be of benefit.
Silver Cross Hospital Supports Lincoln-Way Student Intern Program

Joliet, IL (March 30, 2011)—In recognition of the American Diabetes Association’s American Diabetes Alert, the Silver Cross Diabetes Center and the Joliet Noon Lions Club offered free screenings to detect diabetes to nearly 180 area residents on March 23 at Silver Cross Hospital. Participants were offered a Diabetes Risk Assessment and Blood Glucose Test.
