New Lenox, IL (Mcarch 31, 2014)— You're working on your computer, trying to ignore the tingling or numbness you've had for months in your hand. Suddenly, a sharp, piercing pain shoots through the wrist and up your arm. Just a passing cramp? More likely you have carpal tunnel syndrome, a painful progressive condition caused by compression of a key nerve in the wrist. Even sleep becomes impossible because of the constant pain. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), this is a common scenario for many Americans.

Childerguild Gives $242,000 for Silver Cross Women’s and Children’s Services

New Lenox, IL (April 4, 2014)—Recently, Childerguild presented Silver Cross with $242,000, to support the hospital’s Women and Infant Services Birthing Center including the Post Partum unit and Pediatrics unit. For the past 104 years, the local charitable organization has donated more than $3 million to support women’s and children’s services at Silver Cross Hospital. Past donations have been used to purchase needed equipment including a VeinViewer, Abaer newborn hearing tester and electronic fetal monitor.

Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission provides scholarship grant to The Coalition of Black Trade Unionists

New Lenox, IL (April 2, 2014)—The Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission announced it has allocated $10,000 worth of scholarships to the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, Joliet Area. Ten $1,000 scholarships were given to the following 10 individuals on March 15, 2014: Kailyn Byrd, Benedictine University; Kywanna Doss, Bradley University;  Diamond Fuqua, Tennessee State University; Cha”Nneka Gaston, Joliet Junior College; Britney Holman, Eastern University; Ashley King, Methodist College; Naomi Mayes, Joliet Junior College; Dyamond Parker, Ball State University; Jasmine Robertson, school undetermined; and Shantel Williamson, Robert Morris College.

Silver Cross Hospital’s Bariatric Surgery Program Receives Re-Accreditation as Center of Excellence

New Lenox, IL (March 31, 2014)- The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) has awarded Silver Cross Hospital a three-year re-certification as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence® for the hospital’s weight loss surgery program. The ASMBS Center of Excellence designation recognizes programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in bariatric (gastric bypass) weight loss surgery.
