Area Resident Receives Peace of Mind from Cardiac Screening at Silver Cross Hospital

Since her grandparents and parents had heart disease, Manhattan resident Terri Dobson often wondered if she too would suffer from the same fate. With her family health history in mind, she was motivated to get a Baseline Cardiac Assessment at Silver Cross Hospital. “I knew for years I should get my heart checked based on the history of heart disease in my family, but when I learned about Silver Cross’ baseline cardiac risk assessment for only $40, I had no excuse not to get my heart checked out,” said 57 year-old Dobson. “I’m so grateful to the compassionate nurses who calmly talked me through the test and helped me relax. Thanks to having the cardiac screening, I now have peace of mind knowing my heart health.”

Heart Attack Patient’s Life Saved with Cardiac Procedure just 18 minutes after arriving at Silver Cross Hospital

Two weeks prior to having a massive heart attack, Frankfort resident Darrell Burris was walking through a hardware store and began to have chest pains. A couple days later when he was driving to work, he felt a tightening in his chest. Since the pain went away in 5 minutes, he dismissed the episodes as anxiety attacks due to stress. Then during his fourth episode of chest pain within two weeks, the pain didn’t go away – in fact it worsened.  At this point, Burris went to the Emergency Room at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. Within 18-minutes of arriving to Silver Cross, Burris was in the Cardiac Cath Lab where Dr. Muawia Martini performed a coronary angioplasty inserting two stents into one of his coronary arteries, which was 99% blocked.

The 74-year-old New Lenox man was at the VFW when a friend told him about Dr. Robert Daley, one of Chicagoland’s leading orthopaedic surgeons in Total Hip Replacement, Minimally Invasive Hip and Knee Replacement and Knee Arthroscopy. Frankfort Woman’s Severe Back Pain Eliminated due to Surgery at Silver Cross

Silver Cross Hospital offers free lecture and screening

Frankfort resident Mary Lou Anderson didn’t just wake up one morning with a sore back, instead her pain became progressively worse over the years. “The pain in my back would take my breath away. It was as if a searing knife was stuck in my back and the intensity literally stopped me from moving whether I was standing, walking or sitting,” said the 50 year-old legal assistant. “At one point the pain would shoot down my right leg and then as time went on I couldn’t even feel any sensation in my leg.” After getting no relief from pain injections and physical therapy, her family practice physician, Dr. Christopher Udovich, referred her to orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Chintan Sampat. It was then determined that she had a crushed nerve on her right side and spinal stenosis, so Anderson had surgery to fix her spine on June 10 at Silver Cross Hospital.
