Open Your Eyes To Healthy Vision

Silver Cross Hospital Hosts free program on improving vision on June 16

New Lenox, IL (May 29, 2014)—Has your eyesight become worse over time?  Do objects appear cloudy or blurry while colors seem faded? Do you have poor night vision and does the glare from headlights, lamps, or sunlight appear too bright? Then you maybe suffering from a cataract on one or both of your eyes that is making daily activities like driving or reading more difficult. According to the National Eye Institute, by age 80, more than half of all Americans either have a cataract or have had cataract surgery.

Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission provides Scholarships to the Hispanic/Latino Coalition of Will and Grundy Counties

New Lenox, IL (May 27, 2014)— The Hispanic/Latino Coalition of Will and Grundy Counties recently awarded $10,000 in scholarships from a grant through the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission. Each of the following students received a  $1,000 Dr. Daniel Gutierrez scholarships:  Deisi Alcantar, Joliet Junior College; Wendyth Granados-Flores, Southern Illinois University; Elizabeth Mateo, Lewis University; Jose Ortiz, University of St. Francis; Alex Paramo, University of Chicago; Sandra Robles, University of Illinois at Chicago; Rebekah Salazar, Northern Illinois University; Mario Tapia, Lewis University; Diana Viveros, Lewis University; and Brady Zabala, Stony Brook University.

Silver Cross Employees Honored for Milestone Years of Service

New Lenox, IL (May 21, 2014) – During National Hospital Week, Silver Cross Hospital honored employees who reached milestones of 5 to 50 years of service. Over 207 employees with ten or more years were honored at a special dinner at the Patrick Haley Mansion in Joliet on May 13. Employees with five years of service received a gift of their choice. The following employees were recognized for 20 or more milestone years of service:
