Joliet, IL (August 3, 2011)—At a recent luncheon Silver Cross Hospital honored members of the 500 Club Volunteers who graciously donated 500 or more hours of their time in a 12 month period by working in various departments within Silver Cross Hospital.

These volunteers have worked in various parts of the hospital performing a variety of roles including: Barb Baird is a Guest Services volunteer, hospital wayfinder and Smith Pavilion Volunteer where she greets and escorts guests; Dan Donnelly is a Guest Services volunteer where he escorts guests and assists the staff of the Guest Services department; Ruth Brown is a Same Day Surgery volunteer and Blood Drive volunteer where she greets guests, escorts and transports guests at discharge; Dan Shew is a Guest Services volunteer and a Francis Transporter where he greets guests, assists the staff of GS, escorts guests and provides discharge transport; Stuart Switt is an Endoscopy volunteer and a transporter where he greets and escorts guests, provides discharge transport and assists the Endoscopy staff; Mary Wereldsma does special projects and is a Same Day Surgery volunteer where she greets and escorts guests and transports guests at discharge; Brian Hutson is an Endoscopy volunteer, Francis Transport and wheelchair repair volunteer. He greets and escorts guests, provides discharge transport and assists the Endoscopy staff as well as keeps our wheelchairs in excellent condition; Marge Persico helps with Blood drives and is a Same Day Surgery volunteer where she greets, welcomes and keeps our guests informed; Aric Talwar is a college student at Loyola University and wants to be a physician. He is the youngest ever recipient of the 500 Club award. He volunteers in Smith Pavilion where he greets and escorts guests, transports guest and assists with our wheelchair cleaning events.
