New Hospital
Opening Day
Silver Cross is pleased to announce that on Sunday, February 26, 2012 we will relocate all patients and medical services to our state-of-the-art replacement hospital campus at 1900 Silver Cross Blvd, New Lenox, IL 60451. The 289-bed hospital located just 3 ½ miles east of our current Joliet campus and easily accessible from both I-80 and I-355.

- Patient’s phone numbers at the New Lenox Hospital will be 1-815-300 plus the new room number.

Since you may be a part of this historic event, we wanted to provide you with some additional information about the move and answer many important questions that you may have.
When will patients be moved?
Beginning at 7 a.m. on February 26, all patients at the current hospital will be relocated by ambulance to the Replacement Hospital. We anticipate that his will take 8 to 10 hours. Rest assured that all patients will be moved safely and treated with dignity and respect. We will do our very best to accommodate your family during the move. A Family Lounge will be available at the Replacement Hospital to receive up-to-date information on the patient’s move status.
What will happen to my personal belongings during the move?
Family members should take the patient’s non-essential personal belongings home the night before or on move day. Any remaining belongings will be labeled and moved along with the patient.
How do I access Emergency Services during the move?
Beginning at 7:00 a.m., the New Lenox Emergency Department will be fully operational. The Joliet Emergency Department will close at 7:00 a.m. In the event that a patient arrives in the Joliet Emergency Department after 7:00 a.m., he or she will be transferred, if necessary, to the New Lenox Emergency Department. Please note that the Silver Cross Free-Standing Emergency Care Center at 143rd and Bell Rd. in Homer Glen will also be open to care for all patients.
What if I need surgery during the move?
Surgical services will be available throughout the move.
How do I find my loved one in the Replacement Hospital?
Please come to the Main Entrance where there will be a Family Lounge available for you to receive updates on the patient move. You will be reunited once your loved is settled in his or her new private room.
Will the Cafeteria be open during the move?
The Cafeteria and Coffee Shops will be open at both hospitals beginning at 7 a.m. Light refreshments will also be available in the Family Lounge.
How do I find other services starting February 26, 2012?
All other medical services including non-emergent tests and procedures will begin on February 27, 2012. The campus guide provides information on what services are located in the New Lenox Hospital.
