Silver Cross Opens New Medical Center in Homer Glen
Larger facility includes MRI, CT, X-ray and doctors offices
Silver Cross has brought more of its "Top 100" services to the community
with a brand new medical center at 143rd St. & Bell Rd. in Homer Glen. The
Silver Cross
Professional Building and Health Center recently began offering MRI, CT
and X-ray services. To
schedule an appointment with a doctor order, call (815) 740-7076.
Dr. John Giroux, pediatrics and
Dr. Lewis Carrozza, podiatry, have
also moved their office to the new medical center.
Construction began on the 30,000 square foot building last fall. The impressive
2-story medical center replaces the older facility located at the same site, which
was demolished to make room for additional parking.
"With more and more patients coming to the hospital for tests and other services
from Homer Glen and the surrounding communities, we wanted to make these services more
convenient for area families," said Paul Pawlak, President and CEO of Silver Cross Hospital.
Day, evening and weekend appointments are available with test results available within 24-hours.
The hi-tech, quality images are read by Silver Cross board certified radiologists and digitally
stored in the hospital's
Pictorial Archiving Communication System (PACS). Using PACS, both the images and results can
be reviewed by the patient's doctor anytime, anywhere. The images can also be transferred to a CD
and given to the patient before leaving the appointment.
"We know that in today's society, everyone's time is valuable," says Theresa Quinn, Director of
Ambulatory Care at Silver Cross. "Therefore, we want to give patient options in how they access
our services. In return, we will go the extra mile to understand and even anticipate the and wants
of each and every one of our patients."
One-way Silver Cross is doing just that is through its
electronic medical record network
(EMR), which is the first of its kind in the region. If a patient has previously been to
Silver Cross Hospital, the medical record is instantly accessible by the Homer Glen staff through
the computer system. This will alleviate the need for staff to ask for repetitive information
at check-in time. With this highly advanced electronic health record, patients will ultimately
receive better care while eliminating any waits for other medical information.
"We also wanted to create a calm, healing environment with soothing and natural light,"
says Quinn. "And, we are working with students from Lockport East High School to fill our
community art gallery with cheerful artwork."
In the future, Silver Cross will also offer
community health programs
and screenings at the facility. Patients can also look for more doctors' offices at the
Silver Cross building in the upcoming months including family practice and colorectal care.
The hospital also has plans to bring walk-in Emergi-Care staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week by emergency department trained physicians with-in the next year.
