On behalf of the 25,000 union workers in Will and Grundy Counties, I write to endorse the plan to construct a new Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, replacing the existing facility in Joliet. This project has the potential to create hundreds of union that will benefit the region for years to come.

This project is important to our membership, as the new hospital will create more than 600 union construction jobs. There’s the potential to create even more jobs for our members, with demolition of the existing buildings and construction of new housing, retail or other redevelopment projects at the hospital’s current site in Joliet.

With their plans for a replacement hospital, Silver Cross is building a 100-year legacy in Will County and helping working families in our communities.
