Breast Cancer Awareness Wednesdays
Silver Cross Hospital has teamed-up with the Joliet JackHammers to educate women and raise money in the fight against breast cancer during the 2007 season. At each Wednesday home game, Silver Cross will give away prevention and self-screening information at its kiosk inside the ballpark. At the conclusion of each game, Silver Cross will give away a screening mammogram at any of the hospital’s three mammography locations. Breast cancer facts will be shown on the scoreboard throughout the game and discussed through the live radio broadcast on WJOL-AM Radio.
The Joliet JackHammers players will wear pink jerseys with a special breast cancer patch. Jerseys will be auctioned at the end of the season with the proceeds benefiting the hospital’s breast cancer prevention and treatment program.
“Catch for the Cause” returns for the third consecutive season. Fans will once again be given the opportunity to play catch in the outfield for one-half hour prior to each Wednesday home game. In addition, proceeds from the fan 50/50 raffle for every Wednesday home game will be donated to the fight against breast cancer. A Silver Cross breast cancer survivor will throw out the first pitch. And, breast cancer survivors will have the opportunity to purchase Wednesday game tickets at a discounted price. For ticket information, call the Joliet JackHammers box office at (815) 726-BALL (2255).
