New Lenox, IL (April 8, 2013) — Even after 56-year-old Kathy Vrba received the news that a pea-sized cancerous lump was found in her left breast after her annual mammogram, she decided to take the positive advice she has offered to so many of her patrons during her 28 years as a bartender. “Once I heard the alarming news that I had breast cancer, initially I was so scared, but then instantly I thought no, I’m going to follow my own advice that I have given to so many of my customers and just stay optimistic,” said New Lenox resident Kathy Vrba.

New Lenox, IL (May 21, 2013)— According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute about in 1 in 3 adults in the United States has hypertension, also known as high blood pressure. Silver Cross Hospital is offering a free lecture on hypertension that will educate area residents on what makes them at risk for hypertension and what to do if they find themselves with the condition.
Girl Scouts Troup Delivers Blankets to Newborns at Silver Cross Hospital
New Lenox, IL (March 20, 2013) —Members from Girl Scouts Troup #359 in New Lenox, delivered handmade blankets to Silver Cross Hospital to be given to newborn babies born at the hospital’s Birthing Center. The Girl Scouts handmade the fleece blankets as part of their community service project. During this same visit, the girls also participated in a first aid class to learn the basics of providing initial care for an illness or injury.
