Steps-Up Privacy, Safety and Comfort in New Hospital
When the replacement hospital opens on Feb 26, 2012, the medical and surgical inpatients won’t be the only ones benefitting from our enhanced patient-family centered care model and new design. The Behavioral Health and Chemical Dependency patients will also see and feel the difference in the new hospital.
Currently, the Behavioral department is located on the third floor in one of the oldest and most outdated buildings on the Joliet campus. In the replacement hospital, these services (Inpatient and Outpatient Behavioral Health and Outpatient Chemical Dependency) will be conveniently located on the first floor directly adjacent to the Emergency Department (ED). The close proximity of the ED will improve the ease of the admission process to the inpatient behavioral health unit. An additional 6 beds have been added to the inpatient unit for a total of 10 private and 5 semi-private rooms.
Nurses' Station
Patients will be assigned to either a private or semi-private room based on their individual needs. The biggest benefit for the outpatients, family members and visitors to the inpatient unit, is the addition of a private entrance to help ensure confidentiality.
The outpatient treatment area will have two group therapy rooms-each large enough to accommodate up to 20 people in a circle format, creating a comfortable atmosphere that is conducive to intimate communication. Group rooms in both the inpatient and outpatient areas will have beautiful new furniture and the latest audio/visual equipment allowing us to provide our clients with education about the behavioral, medical, and psychological aspects of their illnesses.
We designed the unit based on what is most therapeutic for our clients, paying attention to even the smallest details, such as choosing colors that are proven to be soothing and relaxing. We are confident the design will allow us to provide a higher quality experience to our patients and their families.
