Rehabilitation

Our experienced rehabilitation team is dedicated to helping patients regain their independence and reclaim a healthy, active lifestyle after a serious cardiac event, such as a myocardial infarction, or heart attack. Our rehab department is staffed by expert Cardiac Nurses and Exercise Physiologists that assist our patients in regaining strong cardiac function. Using state of the art exercise equipment, along with cardiac monitoring systems, our staff creates a tailored and personalized approach to guide each patient in their recovery.
We offer three phases of cardiac rehab, each offering individualized assessments and treatment plans.
- During phase 1 of the rehabilitation process, specialized nurses and exercise physiologists assist hospitalized patients with active and passive exercise programs, providing education aimed at helping the patient in recovering from a cardiac injury.
- In phase 2, patients return to the Cardio Vascular Institute after discharge and participate in a closely supervised, individualized workout program in a supportive environment that involves cardiac exercise, strength training and stretching. Most insurance companies provide coverage for cardiac rehabilitation.
- In phase 3, patients begin an ongoing exercise program to maintain and improve their quality of life. Phase III offers additional social benefits to our patients as well, most of whom continue to take advantage of Phase III for several years following their initial hospitalization.
Phase 2 & 3 require a physician order.
Hours of operation for Cardiac Rehab are 6 a.m.-6 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
