Signs & Symptoms of a Heart Attack

  1. Chest discomfort
  2. Pain, spreading to the jaw, neck, shoulders or arm
  3. Shortness of breath
  4. Nausea
  5. Sweating
  6. Indigestion or gas-like pain
  7. Dizziness
  8. Unexplained weakness or fatigue
  9. Discomfort or pain between the shoulder blades
  10. Sense of impending doom

Almost half of all heart attack victims die and a major reason is because they wait to long to get help. Don’t “wait and see” what happens. Call 911 for an ambulance within five minutes of having symptoms, even if you aren’t sure you’re having a heart attack. The longer you wait, the more you put your health at risk.

In the Silver Cross Emergency Department, you will be seen in our Chest Pain Center, which is specifically designed area reserved for patients experiencing chest pain or cardiac problems. The Center is equipped to immediately begin treatment for patients experiencing chest pain.

Our multidisciplinary team of emergency healthcare professionals have also been certified to care for women with heart disease symptoms. These physicians, registered nurses and technologists are dedicated to providing immediate care and triage to women with chest pain using state-of-the-art equipment and treatment options-because when dealing with chest pain, every second counts.
