Silver Cross Offers Support Groups in May

Joliet, IL (April 22, 2011)— Silver Cross Hospital will host a free Bipolar Disease Support Group for individuals and family members coping with bipolar disease on Tuesdays, May 10 and 24  from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Specialty Care Pavilion lobby located on the Silver Cross Hospital campus, 1300 Copperfield Ave., Joliet. Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.  The group meets every Wednesday and Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Silver Cross Hospital Rialto Room, 1200 Maple Rd., Joliet. Bariatric Support Group

This is a free service for individuals and their family members who have undergone bariatric weight loss surgery at Silver Cross Hospital. This is a great place to build a network of support, encouragement, and strength to help you reach your goals. The group meets on Wednesday, May 25 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center, 1200 Maple Road, Joliet. Breast Cancer Support Group

This group is for women and family members facing breast cancer. Topics covered are relevant to the cancer experience and offers practical help in coping with some of the emotional issues resulting from a cancer diagnosis. It is women supporting women! Group meets on Tuesday, May 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health library, 1870 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox.  Call 1-888-660-HEAL (4325) or visit www.imatter.silvercross.org to register to attend.

CPAP Support Group

Cardinal Sleep Center of Will County will host a CPAP Support Group on Tuesday, May 24, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Silver Cross Hospital, Polley Education Room 1200 Maple Rd., Joliet. The support group is for individuals using a Continuous Positive Air Pressure (CPAP) machine and their family member. For more information, call 1-888-660-HEAL (4325) or visit www.silvercross.org.

Cocaine Anonymous

Cocaine Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from their addiction. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. There are no dues or fees for membership. This group meets on Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the Rialto Room, 1200 Maple Rd., Joliet. For more information please call 1-888-660-HEAL (4325).

GRASP Support Group

Silver Cross Hospital hosts the GRASP (Grief Recovery After Substance Passing) Support Group for individuals and family members coping with loss of loved ones due to substance abuse. The group will meet on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Rialto Room at Silver Cross Hospital, 1200 Maple Rd., Joliet. All participants are welcome. Narcotics Anonymous

The Narcotics Anonymous is a fellowship for those who suffer from drug addiction. It is a twelve step program designed for groups to support each other through recovery. This group meets Sundays at 9 a.m., and Tuesdays and Fridays at 8 p.m. in the Rialto Room, 1200 Maple Rd., Joliet at Silver Cross Hospital. All participants are welcome. POCHA Support Group

POCHA (Parents Of Children who Have Allergies) will meet at Silver Cross Hospital, Rialto Room, 1200 Maple Rd., Joliet on Monday, May 9 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This group consists of parents sharing information and supporting each other. To learn more, please visit pochaofwillcounty.com.
