Silver Cross Hospital Website Wins 2nd National Award
Joliet, IL (June 2, 2011)— Silver Cross Hospital was recently selected as a winner in the 13th annual Web Health Awards program for its redesigned website (www.silvercross.org). This competition—held twice each year, recognizes the nation’s best digital health resources. Only 5% of the entries received a Gold Award—the highest honor bestowed, with Silver Cross receiving one of them.
Redesigned in 2010 by Elgin’s DC Interactive under the direction of the Silver Cross Marketing/Community Relation’s Team including Ruth Colby (Chicago resident), Ben Hernandez (Orland Park resident), Karen Helman (Orland Park resident) and Tracy Simons (New Lenox resident), the site features online class registration, “Find a Doctor” directory and a web nursery. Users can also request appointments for tests or procedures and copies of their medical records, send an e-card to a patient, and view wait times for the Hospital’s two emergency departments in Joliet and Homer Glen and also a live construction camera and photos of the replacement hospital opening in February 2012.
“We were delighted to participate in the 2011 Web Health Awards competition, and were honored to be selected as a winner,” said Tracy Simons, Director of Marketing and Community Relations at Silver Cross. “Our winning entry was chosen from more than 500 entries judged by a panel of distinguished experts in digital health media.”
The Web Health Awards℠ program is organized by the Health Information Resource Center℠, a national clearinghouse for professionals who work in consumer health fields. Winners are posted at webhealthawards.com.
In addition to the Web Health Award, last month, Silver Cross won a Gold Aster Award from Marketing Healthcare Today Magazine and Creative Images, Inc. This elite program recognizes outstanding healthcare professionals for excellence in their advertising/marketing efforts for the calendar year 2010.
