Learn New Methods to Treat Breast Cancer

Silver Cross Hospital offers free breast cancer lecture on March 25

New Lenox, IL (March 7, 2014) — According to the American Cancer Society, in 2013 an estimated 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer were diagnosed among women, as well as an estimated 62,570 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) will be diagnosed this year.  CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer.  Silver Cross Hospital is offering a free lecture to teach how treatment of the disease has evolved over time.

Silver Cross Hosts Medical-Surgical Nursing Overview & Certification Review Course

New Lenox, IL (Mar. 6, 2014)—Silver Cross Hospital will host a Medical-Surgical Nursing Overview and Certification Review Course March 20 and 21 for nurses who are preparing to take the medical-surgical certification exam or are interested in a review of the body systems and current nursing interventions. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center, Pavilion A, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox, IL.

Sleep Deprivation Can Harm Your Health

Silver Cross Hospital offers free lecture on Sleep vs. No Sleep

New Lenox, IL (Feb. 25, 2014)— We’ve all experienced the feeling of utter exhaustion from having a bad night’s rest. But if you find yourself routinely tired, unable to concentrate at work and having mood swings, then you could be suffering from sleep deprivation.  According to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF), if you get six hours or less of sleep a night, then you aren’t getting an appropriate night’s rest in order for your body to recharge. Studies have shown that sleep actually improves learning, memory, and insight. In honor of National Sleep Awareness Week, Silver Cross Hospital is offering a free lecture on how a lack of sleep can affect your overall health.

Silver Cross Announces Medical Staff Appointments

New Lenox, IL (Feb. 18, 2014) —Mark Brinkman, M.D., board certified pediatrics physician, has joined the Silver Cross Medical Staff. Dr. Brinkman attended medical school at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He completed a pediatrics residency at the University of Illinois.
