Safely Celebrate Memorial Day

Joliet, IL (May 22, 2011)— As the end of May draws closer, everyone anxiously awaits the arrival of the Memorial Day holiday to enjoy a three-day weekend relaxing with family and friends barbequing ala beachside to kick-off the start of the summer season. But holidays can pose a safety risk to many. The most dangerous holidays in terms of injuries is the five-day period surrounding Labor Day, followed by Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Halloween.

Silver Cross Employees Participate Choosing Beds for New Hospital

Joliet, IL (May 20, 2011) —Pictured are Becky Strilko, Advanced Practice Nurse and Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse at Silver Cross, and Mark Cussans, Representative for Stryker recently participated in the Replacement Hospital Bed Fair.  The purpose of this Fair was to allow hospital staff to test out  various beds being considered for the new hospital. Staff feedback was instrumental in assisting with final bed selections that are functional, safe and comfortable.

Joliet, IL (May 18, 2011)—Acute sinusitis is a short-term, intense infection or inflammation of the membranes in your sinuses—the air-filled cavities in the bones around the eyes and behind the nose. According to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), millions of Americans develop this common condition at least once a year, especially in the spring. Symptoms of sinusitis can affect the nose, eyes or ears.

Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health Hosts Mammogram Party May 26

Joliet, IL (May 18, 2011)—To encourage women to get their annual mammogram, the Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health in New Lenox is hosting a Mammogram Party.  Women age 40 and older who have not had their mammography screening in the past 12 months are invited to attend on Thursday, May 26 between 5 and 8 p.m.  For reservations, call (815) 740-7076. A physician’s order is necessary and results will be available within 24 hours.  Participants can choose to have their insurance billed or pay $100 at time of the appointment.
