Chocolate and Regular Screenings are Good for Women’s Hearts

Silver Cross Offers Free Box of Dan’s Candies with Heart Screenings 

Joliet, IL (Jan. 17, 2011)--Chocolate is good for your heart.  According to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), small amounts of dark chocolate can be good for your heart. The plant phenols -- cocoa phenols, found in dark chocolate, have been known to lower blood pressure and reduce LDL "bad" cholesterol levels.

Silver Cross Offers Health Education Classes in February

Joliet, IL (January 13, 2010)— Silver Cross Hospital is offering an AHA Healthcare Provider CPR class for LPNs, RNs, Paramedics, EMTs, and CNAs. This class teaches one and two person infant, child and adult CPR as well as rescue from chocking. The class will be held on Saturday, Feb. 5, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Silver Cross Hospital, 1200 Maple Rd., Joliet. Cost is $65 and includes American Heart Association certification. Couple Loses Over 380 Pounds after Weight Loss Surgery

Joliet, IL (January 4, 2010) — After getting married in 1999 Oswego residents Michael and Amelia Kleymann had steadily gained a lot of weight together. Since both of them had unhealthy habits, they figured their chances of long-term success were better if they did weight loss surgery together. Fortunately, the Kleymanns’ health has greatly improved since they collectively have lost over 380 pounds after their laparoscopic gastric bypass weight loss surgery at Silver Cross Hospital in the fall of 2009.
