Silver Cross Hospital Awarded 16th Straight A for Safety from Leapfrog Group
Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox has received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for fall 2022, making it the 16th straight A that Silver Cross has earned for patient safety since 2015.
This national distinction celebrates Silver Cross Hospital’s achievements in protecting hospital patients from preventable harm and errors. Silver Cross is one of only seven hospitals in Illinois and one of just 56 hospitals across the U.S. to earn straight A’s 16 times in a row.
“At Silver Cross, patient safety always comes first,” said Ruth Colby, President and Chief Executive Officer. “That’s why Speak up for Patient Safety is the first of our Silver Cross 7 Behaviors. This sets the standard and expectation for every employee, physician and volunteer. Earning our 16th straight A is a true testament to their dedication and commitment to putting safety first for every patient, every time.”
The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization with a 10-year history of assigning letter grades to general hospitals throughout the United States, based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Hospital Safety Grade results are based on more than 30 national performance measures and are updated each fall and spring.
“I applaud Silver Cross Hospital’s leadership and workforce for their strong commitment to safety and transparency,” said Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a sign that hospitals are continuously evaluating their performance, so that they can best protect patients.
