CITGO Lemont Refinery Supports Heart Care at Silver Cross Hospital

CITGO Lemont Refinery presented a $5,000 check to the Silver Cross Foundation in support of the new Outpatient Heart and Vascular Center. With a growing number of patients requiring heart procedures at Silver Cross, the Heart and Vascular Center provides patients at minimal risk of complications the option of having their procedures in a more convenient setting outside of the hospital, allowing for a quicker recovery.

“Now, select heart and vascular patients can have the same outpatient procedures performed by the same doctors and staff from our main hospital in a much more relaxed setting,” said Katie Lowe, Clinical Director of Cardiology.
The center offers a variety of treatments, including minimally invasive interventional radiology procedures such as paracentesis, port insertion and removal. As well as other ultrasound-guided procedures, cardiac catheterizations and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), which is one of the most commonly performed cardiac procedures done to open obstructed coronary arteries. It also promises easier scheduling and access for both patients and physicians performing procedures. This first-of-its-kind center at Silver Cross is located on the second floor of the Silver Cross Procedure Center on the east side of the campus.
“The Silver Cross Foundation is grateful for the partnerships we have with our local businesses such as CITGO,” said Tracy Simons, Executive Director, Silver Cross Foundation. “Over the last four years, CITGO has contributed to several Hospital initiatives including our Amy, Matthew & Jay Vana Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; the only level three NICU in Will County.”
