Silver Cross Advisory Board Turns Encore Shop Sales into Much-Needed Equipment

The Advisory Board of Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox made a two-year pledge last year to support the Homer Glen Emergency Department expansion and purchase replacement equipment for the Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation Gym, including two bikes, two cross-trainers and two treadmills.
They made good on that pledge recently as Michael Mutterer, Silver Cross President and CEO, accepted $51,432 on behalf of the Silver Cross Foundation from Advisory Board co-Presidents Judy Lake and Edith Schalk.
Last December, the ladies’ auxiliary donated $50,000 to purchase: an EKG machine for the hospital’s 5:3 patient care unit; a vein finder, external pacemaker and transport chairs for the Procedural Care Unit; and a NMES (NeuroMuscular Electrical Stimulation) treatment unit and an IOPI (Iowa Oral Performance Instrument) for the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab’s speech therapy department.
This dedicated volunteer group of women raised the funds through resales at the Encore Shop , located in the Business Center (710 Cedar Crossings Drive) on the northeast corner of the Hospital’s campus.
The Encore Shop is open every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and the first Saturday of the month from 10-3 p.m. Gently used donations are accepted in the Shop and the bin located in Lot H on the southeast corner of the hospital campus.
