Silver Cross President/CEO Michael Mutterer Named to Becker’s 2026 Community Hospital CEOs to Know
Silver Cross Hospital President & Chief Executive Officer Michael Mutterer has been recognized by Becker's Healthcare as one of its 2026 Community Hospital CEOs to Know.
The honor recognizes hospital leaders across the nation who are shaping the future of community healthcare by improving quality, expanding services, supporting their teams, and ensuring patients have access to the care they need.
“Becker's Healthcare is proud to recognize these visionary leaders, who are dedicated to positively impacting their communities,” their press release stated. “The presidents and CEOs recognized on this list are, in close collaboration with their leadership teams, developing and executing the strategic plans that elevate quality, expand services lines, and equip their facilities to deliver the best possible care. Their portfolios span acute care, primary care, rehabilitation, public health services and whatever else their communities require. They are deeply committed to accessible, high-quality care, to cultures where talented people want to build careers, and to sustainable, long-term growth.”
Earlier this year, Crain’s Chicago Business named Mutterer to its 2026 Notable Leaders in Healthcare, and last November, Mutterer earned the Gold Star for Health Award from the National Hook-up of Black Women, Joliet Chapter, for his extraordinary contributions to healthcare in the community.
In January 2026, Mutterer was elected to the Board of Trustees for the Illinois Health and Hospital Association (IHA). The IHA Board is the policymaking body for the Association, which represents more than 200 hospitals and nearly 40 health systems across Illinois.
Locally, Mutterer serves on the Executive Committee of the Will County Center for Economic Development and the Board of Directors for both the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center and Lightways Hospice.
