Silver Cross Foundation is proud to announce it has received a $5,000 grant from Caesars Foundation to support Silver Cross Hospital’s transformative “OR of the Future” campaign – an $8.5 million investment to modernize and enhance all 11 operating rooms through advanced technology, improved patient safety features and next-generation surgical design.
Silver Cross performs nearly 12,000 surgeries each year , serving patients across Will, Grundy and southwest Cook counties with nationally recognized excellence. However, the hospital’s operating rooms – built 14 years ago – were designed for a different era of medicine. Advances in surgical technology and patient care now require modernized environments to support precision, efficiency, safety and an improved patient experience.
“We are incredibly grateful to Caesars Foundation for their support of our ‘OR of the Future’ campaign,” said Tracy Simons, Executive Director of Silver Cross Foundation . “Every day, patients place their trust in us during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. This campaign ensures we can honor that trust by delivering the most advanced surgical care in an environment designed for safety, healing and compassion.”
The project will renovate all 11 operating rooms into smarter, fully integrated surgical environments featuring advanced LED lighting, ultra-clear 4K imaging, and coordinated technology systems that enhance precision and efficiency for surgical teams.
Enhancements will also include:
Signature Suite™ technology , offering calming lighting, visuals, and sound to reduce patient anxiety and improve the overall experience
Integration of advanced surgical systems to improve communication and workflow
Expansion of minimally invasive capabilities through the addition of the da Vinci 5 surgical robot , helping patients recover faster with less pain
“At Silver Cross, we are committed to delivering exceptional care through innovation and excellence,” said Michael Mutter, RN, MA, LCPC, CADC, LNHA, President and CEO of Silver Cross Hospital . “Modernizing our operating rooms ensures our physicians and care teams have the tools they need to provide the highest level of care. This investment will improve outcomes, enhance the patient experience and ensure our community has access to leading-edge surgical care close to home.”
“Caesars Foundation is proud to support Silver Cross Foundation and its efforts to advance innovative healthcare solutions,” said Rachael Bartolini, SVP and General Manager, Harrah’s Joliet. “The ‘OR of the Future’ campaign reflects a meaningful investment in patient care and community well-being, and we are honored to help support this important work.”
The “OR of the Future” campaign represents a critical step forward in ensuring that advanced, compassionate surgical care remains available locally for generations to come.
