Advanced Orthopedic Care
As an area leader in joint replacement procedures, Silver Cross Hospital offers comprehensive care so you can heal safely and quickly. Our multidisciplinary orthopedic team will provide you with high-quality, thorough care and pain management that will extend to when you return home.
Today's joint replacement procedures are less invasive and often require less recovery time. Before your procedure, we help you plan ahead for a fast, effective recovery. We invite you to take our Joints Matter Class to learn all you need to know to successfully heal from your orthopaedic procedure.
Joints Matter Class
If you and your doctor have decided that it is time for a total joint replacement, we invite you to attend a free Joints Matter program. Before your hip or knee replacement procedure, you will know exactly what to anticipate after the surgery, the daily expectations of rehabilitation therapy and what you can do to recover more quickly.
Joints Matter is a one-hour seminar for patients who have scheduled to have their hip or knee replacement surgery at Silver Cross Hospital. The free program offers extensive pre-operative education for the patient and their family to enhance faster healing and recovery. Seminars are presented twice a month and cover topics such as:
- What to expect after surgery
- How to optimize the recovery process
- Occupational therapy and physical therapy
- Exercises to promote healing
- Nursing care
- Discharge planning
- Tips on preparing your home for your return
Joints Matter patients are cared for by a dedicated staff that specializes in caring for total joint replacement patients at Silver Cross Hospital. Your Joints Matter team includes physical and occupational therapists with The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab at Silver Cross, nurses, as well as case managers who are specially trained in total joint care. We work closely with your doctor to maximize your recovery.
Why attend Joints Matter?
We know joint replacement patients are anxious to return to their active, independent lifestyles. Our group approach to pre-surgical education adds support and motivation. Our goal is to answer any questions you and your family members may have and prepare you for the recovery process.
