Participants will receive instruction from the Birthing Center staff on various topics as you get closer to your baby's delivery. Class is approximately 3 hours per session and is held over 2 sessions.
The first session will cover:
Basic anatomic changes in pregnancy and its effect on the body.
Hormonal changes
The process and stages of labor
Learning about the difference of False vs. True Labor
How to time contractions
What to expect in the pushing stage of labor
Common interventions done in hospital during labor
Pain relief options offered in hospital.
Types of induction methods and reasons for induction of labor.
Common complications
C-section
The Second session Covers:
Focusing on Comfort Measures
Mind and Body connection to pain and pain relief
Positioning techniques and options for laboring at home or in hospital
Skin to Skin after birth explained and rationale for it
Normal newborn characteristics, and information for care in the first 2-3 days in the hospital.
