Orthopedic specialist James P Leonard pursued a Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery Fellowship at Vanderbilt University. He completed his residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center and graduated Medical School from Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, IL.
He specializes in Shoulder Reconstruction, Arthroscopy, and Sports Medicine. He was the team physician for Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League, Vanderbilt University, the University of Illinois at Chicago Flames, St. Ignatius College Prep High School, St. Rita High School, Chicago Sky WNBA, Morgan Park Academy High School, and Nashville Sounds – Triple-A baseball.
Dr. Leonard’s interests, in addition to his clinical practice, is athletic coverage as the team physician for Carl Sandburg High School, Marist High School, Windy City Magic Basketball, and American Hearing Impaired Hockey Association. Dr. Leonard traveled to Finland in March of 2013 to cover the USA AHIHA Olympic Games.
Dr. Leonard is a Master Instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America and Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He reviews for Arthroscopy & American Journal of Sports Medicine.
He offers Saturday and evening hours, as well as Athlete Acute Injury Hours during each clinic.
