Shabir Abadin, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.S. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained endocrine and general surgeon.
He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern University and subsequently completed a general surgery residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Abadin completed his training in endocrine surgery with a fellowship at the renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Abadin previously worked at Cook County Hospital where he saw, diagnosed, and treated complicated endocrine and general surgical diseases. He has published extensively on surgical diseases of the endocrine glands (thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal) and is an active member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons.
Dr. Abadin has won numerous awards for teaching, clinical stewardship, and compassionate care throughout medical school, residency and while in practice as an attending. When he's not in the operating room, Dr. Abadin spends time volunteering on surgical mission trips to the Philippines and Central America, providing quality care to those unable to afford it.
He speaks conversational Spanish.
