Will County Union of King’s Daughters and Sons

The Will County Union of King’s Daughters and Sons founded Silver Cross Hospital in 1895 on the eastside of Joliet, IL. The hospital is named after the King’s Daughter’s emblem – the Maltese cross. The limestone emblem that once adorned the original hospital can be seen in the vestibule of the current Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

Legacy of Giving

Kings Legacy of Giving

Over the years, the King’s Daughters continued to fund various initiatives including the construction of the replacement hospital, which opened in 2012, through fundraising events including Trunk Shows held throughout the year outside the Hospital’s Seasons Dining Room.

Today, the King’s Daughter’s main focus is to support Silver Cross Hospital’s acute dialysis program donating $480,000 over the past 30 years. They also support other community organizations such as Operation Christmas Child, Royal Kids Camp for foster children, and the American Heart Association’s Little Hats Big Hearts Project.

Members meet in circles, or groups, of three or more:

  • Jennie Lee Circle
  • Mabel Fox Circle
  • Silver Cross Juniors – open to teens and young adults

Circles meet monthly to work on service projects such as making blankets for dialysis patients and to share Bible study, devotions and fellowship.

  • Co-Presidents: Karla Farr and Rita Larson
  • Co-Vice Presidents: Peggy Parthun and Linda Emmert

Physicians on Silver Cross Hospital’s Medical Staff have expertise in their areas of practice to meet the needs of patients seeking their care. These physicians are independent practitioners on the Medical Staff and are not the agents or employees of Silver Cross Hospital. They treat patients based upon their independent medical judgment and they bill patients separately for their services.
