PET / CT
PET / CT is a type of nuclear medicine exam which combines PET (Positron Emission Tomography) and CT (Computed Tomography) into one scanning test.
This exam uses small doses of a radioactive material that are injected intravenously into the body and absorbed by the organs and cells of the tissue being imaged.
This radioactive material, or radiotracers, helps identify any damaged cellular tissue which might be an indicator of potential cancer or tumors.
The images produced can provide detailed information about the body’s anatomy and potential cancerous tissue.
