Creating a Positive Patient Experience
Everybody needs a trusted friend they can turn to in times of need. Here at Silver Cross, that person is Mary Furst, the hospital’s Patient Experience Coordinator.
“A stay in the hospital can raise a lot of questions,” Mary explains. “Questions about treatments, tests, medicines, bills, and the list goes on.”
Patient advocates like Mary help patients get answers…and a whole lot more.
Your Advocate at Silver Cross
As Patient Experience Coordinator, Mary:
- Makes sure patients and families know all the facts about their condition and care.
- Provides patients and families emotional support.
- Helps with delays in getting tests, treatment, or information.
- Handles concerns and complaints.
- Creates special moments for patients and family members.
“I’m focused on whatever I can do to make the patient’s stay positive,” she adds. That’s easy for Mary, who’s been in customer service her entire career and enjoys going the extra mile for everyone she encounters. “My job is to ensure our patients are treated the way they want to be treated,” she said.
